Chef George Formaro started South Union Bakery in 1996 with the goal of bringing artisan bread to Central Iowa. While he started with a small but mighty lineup of Focaccia, Country Italian and a baguette, George has since gone on to expand South Union’s offerings to include more than 50 baked goods. Our team now works around the clock to create freshly made products available daily at top grocery stores and restaurants throughout the greater Des Moines metro.
